David customized the tour based on each family member's interests, and he took us on a fantastic drive to many different sites around the island. We visited historic areas, tucked-away beaches, hiking spots, excellent restaurants for lunch and refreshment breaks, and hidden gems that we would have otherwise missed. The best part is that David seemingly knows everyone on the island, so we would stop and chat with the locals, and this really gave us a flavor for the island. This tour was the ideal way for us to get a feel for the island and learn where we wanted to spend extra time during the rest of the week. Highly recommended!!!read less
Perfect family adventure!! If I was to say David was a great host...read moreIf I was to say David was a great host I would be putting him down. He was great from the moment of booking, making sure we had anything we would need for the day, customised the tour so our toddler could come along but still have us a real adventure. He really went the extra mile at every opportunity.
Took us for doubles first thing (which are delicious!!) and had a story for every road, why things were the way they were on the island. The tour consists of little hikes and waterfalls that are safe wet exciting, our daughter managed to walk all day across the rocks and David helped us climb the rock faces and steep tracks with her. We could have gone higher through the levels if we were without her but I was still able to dive off the waterfalls and get what felt like a full experience.
If you're into food, he'll also take you around plantations and take you to pick local fruits off tree to taste. Had some delicious guavas, giant star fruit, coconuts, almonds straight off trees and also took us to two amazing authentic local restaurants through the day. Taught us about bread fruit and took us to get bread fruit pie which is phenomenal!!
When the day went on, he knew we weren't to be available for Sunday school so found us a bar / restaurant to see a steelband play along with a beachside bbq, this wasn't an added extra. He did this out of his own time and even drove us all home late so we didn't have to get a taxi - yet again going above and beyond for us.
The next day he took us to pigeon point with some amazing white sand beach and guided us on the nylon pools tour. Got us a discount on jet skis and looked after our daughter on the boat so me and my wife could go out and jetski without any worry. Jemima (my daughter) absolutely loved him and I couldn't have felt happier to leave her with him.
Also a huge highlight as my wife broke her phone while on holiday, David takes photos of everything and send you all of them at the end of the day. Which means you get to get on with the day and not have to worry about stopping all the time to take pictures!!
When we come back to tobago in a year or so we'll definitely give him a call. Whether that is for a tour or just to meet for a catch up over a meal. David really made us all feel like we became friends by the end of the day.read less

David asked in advance of any particular interests we had so he could tailor the tour for us.
He got in touch the day before the arranged date and said the forecast for next day was constant rain. He suggested an alternative date with a better forecast which I thought was very helpful of him.
David picked us up from our hotel at 8.30 and took us back late afternoon. We spent the day visiting a lovely selection of beaches, waterfalls, villages and forts. We had an excellent lunch of fresh seafood.
David was an excellent guide throughout the day. He knows the island so well and took us to lovely beaches and viewpoints that few visitors would ever see.
He has an impressive knowledge of the local bird life and plants. He did his best throughout the day to show us as much as he could of the island he clearly loves so much.read less

Our guide David was fun, knowledgeable about the island and the world, entertaining, and personable. I do a lot it traveling and touring and have met a lot of guides who have canned presentations or put on a “show” to try to earn a good tip. David was not like this, in that he was genuinely interested in getting to know who we are as people and the types of things we enjoy seeing/doing on our tour. We received a great experience and connection with our guide, several locals, and the island as a whole. David was flexible and able to make some last minute adjustments due to weather concerns, and he went the extra mile at the end of a long day to accommodate our last minute requests. The snorkeling was great, the drive around the island was gorgeous, and we had an amazing local meal on a quiet little beach. David is an amazing guide and I give him and the tour five stars (only because it won’t let me give 6 stars). I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone and would even pay to do the same one over again if I go back with other friends.read less

We chose this tour company because it said it tailors the day to what you enjoy doing and that is exactly what David does, we said that we like exploring and seeing the culture and that's what we did.
From the day we booked this tour David kept in touch discussing what we would like to do and on the day we were picked up at 7am and he took us for doubles for breakfast first which were delicious, then to the Mangroves, waterfalls, and lots of other places all the way round the Island, some of them were where other tourist companies don't go, we stopped and had coconuts, the lunch we had was amazing and all the time you could tell how much he genuinely wanted to please, we were never rushed from place to place like we have previously experienced with other tours.
We couldn't believe it when he said at one point we had been out 9 hours, (time flies when you are enjoying yourself) and that's what we did for the 12 hours we were on this tour, he took some lovely photos of us at different places and sent them to us so we now have these to remind us of our amazing tour of Tobago.
I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tobago.

We were a group of four, and had our hearts set on a boat tour despite what turned out to be less than ideal tides and weather. David made it happen for us, and we had a blast swimming in the rain, eating delicious food on a nearly underwater No Man's Land, singing, laughing, learning about Tobago's history and wildlife, and generally having an incredible day all together. He felt like one of the group from the beginning! We had planned to do the bioluminescence tour that evening but given the high tides, David helped us figure out another plan - dinner at a lovely restaurant where we watched it rain and saw gorgeous lightning over the water. David was responsive, flexible, responsible, and fun - everything you could ask for in a guide. Can't wait to get back to Tobago and take another of his fantastic tours - thank you David!read less

You see the best that the island has to offer and this is down to David. He is so enthusiastic about the Island and it shows. He has great knowledge of the island and about so many other things. He is a great communicator and good company very friendly and approachable. It was more like meeting up with a friend for the day than going out on a tour. We swam in fantastic secluded beaches, visited mangroves with not a soul in site, ate 'doubles', saw such beautiful scenery and wildlife and just generally had the most brilliant day.

I have visited Tobago on previous occasions and thought I knew the island pretty well but David showed us places I never before considered or even knew existed.
Before we arrived in Tobago David and I had discussions on what my family wanted to see or experience and he created the perfect itinerary for our trip.
We really appreciated David's flexibility because some of the places we visited are so lovely that we wanted to spend more time in certain locations and this resulted in the the tour being adapted as we went along, to accommodate as much as possible, without missing out on other things. We actually went way over the scheduled time that David joined us for dinner and drinks late into the evening!
My family felt so comfortable with David that it was like spending time with an old friend. Nothing was too much for David and we laughed so much.

David knew that I was not a first-timer, so he set up an itinerary of some pretty cool hidden gems around the Island, that definitely impressed me. We set out for Main Ridge from Castara, and spent the morning exploring the forest. From there, we continued around the Island, making all kinds of different stops that the average tourist would never see (but they are secret, so you’ll have to ask David to show you ). Lunch at Jemma’s treehouse restaurant was delicious, and the rest of the day went by so quickly, with another set of unique and interesting stops along the way. I’m going to be writing a full blog post on the experience, but I just wanted to post this quick review in the mean time. Paradise Found My wife and I travelled to Tobago in March 2019...read moreMy wife and I travelled to Tobago in March 2019 and are forever thankful for meeting David with Island Girl Tours.
He picked us up at 8am at the Starfish Tobago hotel on Turtle Beach. Our first destination was Fort King George so we headed across the island to this historic site. If you are a historian, Tobago and all it’s forts are a must see.
From there, we headed north towards Fort Granby and our next destination, Argyle Falls. We were in awe on how around every turn, the views and vistas were so beautiful. Tobago is much more mountainous than we had expected and we loved every moment and the stories David told us as we toured.
We spent about 45 minutes at Argyle Falls and although we didn’t brave swimming in the lower pools, we did enjoy watching others climb up and jump in. I will admit flip flops are not a good idea as the rocks can be slippery so running or water shoes are recommended. David had mentioned this prior to and was totally good with us packing a day bag and leaving it locked in his SUV.
From there, we headed inland to the Main Ridge Reserve and were able to see some beautiful birds and wildlife. It was from the Bloody Bay Recreation Site that the view was truly magical - we couldn’t tell where the ocean ended or the sky began.
From there, we headed to Speyside which was originally a sugar estate. It was here we stopped and had lunch and a cold beer at a local establishment. It was clean and the food was tasty.
Our next stop was Flag Staff Hill which overlooks Charlotteville - this is where the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet. There wasn’t much to Flag Staff other than a stunning view and if you needed a place to stretch your legs, you could do it while taking it all in.
Next stop was Fort Campbelton - another amazing panoramic view - all the while, David offered a history lesson of all these places.
From there, we stopped for a cold beer at Paradise Point in Parlatuvier, met some kind locals and had some laughs. At this point, we were on the Atlantic side of the island and can honestly say, we had fallen in love.
By now, it was about 2PM and it was getting hot so our next stop was Englishman’s Bay for a swim! It was a quiet beach with smooth stones underfoot, crystal clear water and the perfect place for a dip. We did see people snorkelling here and would go back another time with our gear.
From there, we stopped at The Castara Retreat for a cappuccino and met the owner. We saw wild parrots in the trees, stingrays in the bay below and took in some calypso music.
Somewhere between Castara Bay and our hotel, David pulled over on the side of the road and we had doubles - a local lunch - made with chic peas and flat bread. It was delicious and we had officially caught our Island Girl vibe!
David is kind, knowledgeable and we always felt safe on his tour. He was always quick to answer questions on Whats App and helped us plan other days during our vacation.
He is LGBT friendly, knows Tobago like the back of his hand and certainly was a huge part in making our first trip to Tobago, unforgettable.

Remarkable Tour with a Six Star Guide Had two days of tours with David - first day...read moreHad two days of tours with David - first day being the Grand Circle Island Tour and then the second day full of hikes and some beach at the end of the day.
Let me begin by saying that David is one of the most professional, reliable and engaging guides I have had in all my world travels (60 countries). At all times he was able to provide detailed information and history behind what we are seeing, doing, etc... Not just pointing, stopping to take a picture and moving on. I would not even consider other tour guides out there when booking tours given you will miss so much by having an 8 hour tour vs. an 11 or 12 hour tour (and remember, if it's private you can always cut it down to 10 at the end of the day).
Regarding hiking/nature - David is also your go to guide here. Case in point - in the bird trail in the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, we went further than any of the dozen other guides on the tour. The majority of them stop at only the first two waterfalls. We hiked on-wards another 15-20 minutes and found an incredible third waterfall where it was clear it is rarely seen by tourists given the growth along the trail (minor growth but noticeable that there is less foot traffic).
Outside of the above, David is excellent with knowing great spots for doubles, roti, fresh seafood (eastern side of the island), logistics - airport/hotel pickups/dropoffs, etc.. He does it all.

I initially reached out on their website as the calendar online showed full and I was only in Tobago with my son for a few days. Within minutes David had made contact directly asking me what kind of excursion I was looking for, giving ideas and trying his best to make sure we would have a great time. That in itself earned the 5 stars! The hotel was useless in terms of information, but David was a fountain and really worked hard to create options for us. He arranged for us to do a Nylon Pool trip on one day, which was great fun.
In the end we booked an island tour. The day started amazingly and David was a font of knowledge about the island, the flora and fauna, the history - everything! Sadly the heavens opened and the mists rolled in and the tour quickly became a Bank Holiday trip being stuck in the car. David did the rarest of things! He stopped on the road and offered to call it a day and refund the money! As a charity worker who has limited funds, and only having a short time on the island, I was so grateful as we were able to use the money on our final day to splash out on a nice dinner before leaving.
