Sunday School lime (night party)

This is far different from the Sunday school you may recall as a child. In Tobago on Sunday nights, the only place to be is down in Buccoo for a “lime” with the locals. Sunday school is an outdoor party of sorts where people come together to just hang out and enjoy music, drinks and stage performances.

Carry on until the break of dawn

Come down to the village of Buccoo for an awesome lime! (Our local word that means ‘hang out and have a great time’) There is a DJ playing our cheery Caribbean music, and a skilful steel-band pounding out the mellifluous sounds of our local instrument. Vendors abound, selling crafts and street food, including doubles, bake and shark and lobster dinners.

After the steel-band, the music changes back to the DJ and the dancing continues until the crowd dies down. Relax near the water, enjoy drinks from the bar and great conversation, and just take in the vibes of TnT under the starry night.

This lime has been known to carry on until the break of dawn!
