Tobago Archaeological Ruins Experience
reminiscing an age gone by... come Tour Tobago's Historical Majesty
A day of culture and history followed by a delectable late lunch at Tobago’s finest Italian restaurant. Working with βTeam Museumβ (members include historians, librarians, the National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago, Tobago Historical Museum, and National Trust), we visit various archaeological and historical sites around Tobago.
Tobago stands out in Caribbean history as a territory that European colonizers bandied about among their overseas empires on at least 33 occasions from 1498 to 1814. Delve into the past of this fascinating little island, walk in the footsteps of those who settled here, and experience the history firsthand.
Experience military sites and their remains, including forts, batteries and canons. Other site visits include water wheels, wind mills, animal mills, sugar factories, water dams, aqueducts, wells, bridges, indigo sites, kilns, tombs, churches, cocoa and copra houses.
After the tour, we head to Buccoo Bay and La Tartaruga Italian restaurant, winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence annually since 2002, for a fantastic locally inspired Italian lunch created by Chef Gabriele from Milan. Once available, he will join us in conversation about the colonial history and artefacts of Tobago, and also provide details of the work done by Team Museum in the fields around the island.Β
